How Data Quality Works

Automated Pipelines
Each data source has a scheduled pipeline that fetches, validates, and stores updated data. Exchange rates refresh hourly. Sanctions lists refresh daily. Regulatory data refreshes quarterly.

Confidence Scores
Each source gets a confidence score (0–100%) based on its verification method and freshness. Official government APIs score highest (95%). Confidence degrades if a source passes its refresh window.

Status Badges
Green = fresh (within refresh window). Yellow = approaching staleness (>75% of window). Red = past staleness threshold. Red sources trigger automatic refresh attempts and surface warnings in tool results.

Auto-Degradation & Recovery
Confidence decays linearly as sources age past their refresh window. When a source turns stale, an immediate refresh is triggered. Recovered refreshes restore confidence to the source's baseline.

Data provenance note: USTradeStack ingests data from official U.S. government sources including the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Federal Register.
